Essay topics and dates
This is how assessment was organized in 2006. Details will probably be changed by the course organizer of the next course. 50% of the assessment of this course is based on two essays that will be written during the course. Everybody will get exactly one week for writing each of these two essays. The topics of the essays will be announced on this page.
Essay groups
To remove any possible confusion about essay groups, please note that
- Essay Group 1 = Group A
- Essay Group 2 = Group B
- Essay Group 3 = Group C
Each group will write two essays. These groups may be subdivided into subgroups to avoid large numbers of people writing essentially similar essays.
Essay dates
Each topic will be announced on this webpage early in the morning on the Wednesday before the relevant lecture (to give you a head start). You will then have to hand in the corresponding 1000 word essay at 12.00 noon on the Wednesday after the lecture in the Ashworth General Office (Kings Buildings, Uni Edinburgh) to Pat Dougall (Pat.Dougall AT ed.ac.uk, Tel. (0131) 650 5464).
